Anastacia McCleskey (She/They) is a renaissance woman from Nashville, Tennessee and has been sharing her gifts with the world since the age of ten.
She is currently playing Mary Church Terrell in the Tony nominated production of SUFFS and was most recently seen as Carol in the World Premier of BOOP at The CIBC Theater in Chicago, IL. Other recent credits include Joanne in RENT and Celie - The Color Purple at The Muny [Best Performer in a Musical-The St.Louis Theater Circle], Thalia the Muse in Disney's Hercules at Papermill Theater, NY Times Critic Pick - Ain't Misbehavin' at a Barrington Stage, JO in Afterwords at The 5th Ave Theater, Dotty in Roundabouts revival of "Caroline or Change and Perkins, Sophie, Mrs. Greer in "ANNIE LIVE!". She premiered her own show at 54 Below "Hello Beautiful Spirits" in August of 2021.
She played MAY in Atlantic Theatres
world premiere of "The Secret Life of Bees"and the zany/judgemental Nurse Norma in the Broadway hit Waitress (pre shutdown & post shutdown), Becky on the 1st National Tour, and plays Nurse Norma WAITRESS LIVE! on BROADWAY.
During the shut down Anastacia started a podcast with her brothers called "THEM 3 PODCAST". She had the privilege doing couple of plays with Hartford Stages & New Dramatists via zoom & YouTube.
She previously starred as Cherry/ Young Swann in Marcus Gardley's "A Wonder in my Soul" and as Deanie Parker in "STAX, a Soul Musical. Both at Baltimore Centre Stage. She also starred on the West End (London) in Close to You, Bacharach Re-Imagined, at the Menier Chocolate Factory in What's it all About, and was nominated for a 2015-2016 Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Narrator in Murder Ballad.
She's been featured in the Broadway companies of Waitress (Nurse Norma), Violet (Music Hall Singer - OBC), The Book of Mormon (Kimbe), Priscilla Queen of the Desert (DIVA - OBC), Hair (Abraham Lincoln), Tarzan (Ensemble), the 1st National tour of Hairspray (Dynamite), tons of local and regional theater around the world, and traveled across Asia with The New York Harlem Singers. You can also catch her on the web series “I Take The Zoe” as Rhonda.
Anastacia debuted her one-woman show "I Got Love" at The Laurie Beechman Theater in 2007 to rave reviews. She’s played Radio City Music Hall, The Kennedy Center, Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, MetLife Stadium, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, New York City Center, The York Theater, le Poisson Rouge, Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, Highline Ballroom, and performed with Carnegie Hall Community Sings, at Carnegie Hall.
Anastacia is the choreographer and plays the role of Izora Rhodes in the upcoming Broadway show, Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical, which was nominated for an Off-Broadway Alliance Award in the category of Best New Musical 2014-15. Anastacia was also nominated for an Audelco Award 2015, for her work as choreographer on Mighty Real. Her voice can be heard on several cast albums (Tarzan, Violet, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Suffs, and Close to You, Bacharach Re-Imagined) and demos including, Lyons and Pakchar #LOVE Live, and the 2002 theme song for the Special Olympics "Heart of a Lion”.
McCleskey has sung with Burt Bacharach and Patti LaBelle and back-up for Phil Collins, Martha Wash, Bette Midler (BBC Documentary), and Mariah Carey. She has also performed on The Today Show, The View, Good Morning America, The Early Show,The One Show, The David Letterman Show, SNL and the 2011 and 2013 TONY Awards.
